Once again, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, suggested dialog between India and Pakistan to resolve the serious crisis resulting from the annexation of the disputed Kashmir region by India.
Stephane Dujarric, UN Secretary-General’s spokesman, said Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is a powerful believer in dialog in his periodic press conference at UN headquarters in New York.
The spokesman said the UN’s stance on this region is controlled by the UN Charter and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council.
He said the UN Secretary-General also recalled the 1972 India-Pakistan Bilateral Relations Agreement, also known as the Simla Agreement, which states that Jammu and Kashmir’s final status is to be settled by peaceful means in accordance with the UN Charter.
