PTI Sindh MPA arrested for ‘sexually assaulting’ lady

KARACHI: PTI’s Sindh  MPA Shabbir Qureshi was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl, Extra Inspector Normal of Police (AIG) Javed Alam Odho mentioned on Sunday.

Qureshi was detained within the wee hours of Sunday when he left his residence for Fajr prayers, as said by PTI’s Sindh spokesperson Haleem Adil Sheikh, who first reported the arrest.

“Qureshi was shifted to an unidentified place after detention,” Sheikh claimed.

Later, Odho revealed that Qureshi was arrested over a girl’s grievance towards alleged sexual harassment.

“A girl had complained to SITE police station at 3am on Sunday morning, alleging that Qureshi sexually assaulted her after luring her with a job provide,” the police chief mentioned.

He additional said {that a} case has been registered towards Qureshi on behalf of the complainant below Part 354 (assault or felony drive to lady with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Investigations towards Qureshi have been launched, he added.

Khurram Sherzaman condemns Qureshi’s arrest

In the meantime, PTI chief Khurram Sherzaman condemned Qureshi’s arrest, claiming that police autos have been parked exterior the detained PTI chief’s home all evening.
