Polling underway for LG elections in Sindh

KARACHI: With a couple of incidents of violence and clashes among the many employees of various political events, voting is underway right this moment (Sunday) for the primary section of native authorities elections in 14 districts from 4 divisions of Sindh.

Elections in the remainder of the districts of Sindh shall be held on July 24, The Information reported.

A minimum of 21,298 candidates are within the discipline towards 6,277 seats of 101 city committees, 23 municipal committees, 14 district councils, 4 municipal firms, eleven city municipal firms and 887 union councils and union committees.

Election postponed in few wards over misprinting

The native physique elections had been postponed in a couple of wards because of misprinting (typographical error) of the names of candidates within the poll papers, confirmed a spokesperson of the Election Fee of Pakistan (ECP).

He maintained that the ECP will challenge a brand new schedule for elections on the seats. The spokesperson stated that the ECP has launched an inquiry on this regard.

Candidates stage protest

In the meantime, a number of candidates in Nawabshah staged protests over misprinting of election symbols within the poll papers. A TLP candidate was of the view that he was allotted the image of a “crane” but it surely was printed as a “queen” within the poll papers.
