Indian security forces have been charged with beating and torturing in occupied Kashmir following the government’s order to strip the region of its autonomy.
Unprecedented constraints have placed Kashmir in a lockdown state for over three decades, according to the BBC.
Tens of thousands of additional soldiers have been dispatched to the region and about 3,000 individuals have been arrested, including political officials, company individuals and militants. Many were shifted outside the state to prisons.
