Depp-Heard trial juror shuts down claims that jury was influenced by social media

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s sensational defamation trial took the web by storm. From verdict predictions to viral courtroom movies, the trial acquired huge consideration on social media as effectively.

Earlier this week, in an interview, Heard, who misplaced the trial to ex-husband Depp, mentioned she informed the reality in her testimonies and social media might have influenced the jury’s choice.

Responding to Heard’s allegation, one of many jurors, who sat on the high-profile defamation trial denied the claims that social media influenced the decision.

The nameless juror, who spoke out for the primary time in an interview for Good Morning America on Thursday, insisted that the jury ‘adopted the proof.’

“Social media didn’t impression us. We adopted the proof,” mentioned the unnamed juror. “We did not have in mind something exterior [the courtroom]. We solely seemed on the proof.”

“Myself and not less than two different jurors don’t use Twitter or Fb. Others who had it made a degree to not speak about it,” he added.

Earlier this month, the jury had discovered that Heard did defame Depp, awarding him $10 million in compensatory damages and an extra $5 million in punitive damages.

Depp sued Heard for $50 million following a December 2018 op-ed within the Washington Put up during which she seemingly accused him of home abuse, regardless of not naming him.
